I practiced – okay, lived – yoga for about a decade. The photo essays below are part record of that time, part window into what can be an intense, intimate, transformative practice, part documentary of three very different teachers, philosophies, and practices.

The first follows beginning students of a Vinyasa practice, as interpreted by Baron Baptiste, and as taught by Lisa Black and Peter Avolio at Shakti in Seattle. It’s a high-energy, community-oriented practice.

These document several intensive sessions with Ana Forrest. For more context, and her story in her own words, see the video here

Short picture story about a yoga teacher training session led by Theresa Elliott. Theresa has an Iyengar background; Iyengar practice emphasizes careful body alignment, and proper sequencing of postures.
